The powerful Hulk might destroy everything, but someone can calm his heart with her love and care. Yes! We are talking about Sunrise Coigney, the wife of Mark Ruffalo, who has been by his side since 1990. The two lovebirds have been together since the 1990s and staying together ever since then.
In 1998, they initially crossed paths and it instantly connected them. During This time, they get off quite nicely and this connects.
“I don’t think he wanted us to meet,” he recalled to Men’s Journal of meeting his wife in May 2013. “But I saw her and was like, ‘I’m going to marry that girl.’”
During the time, Ruffalo was a struggling actor living in a converted garage. On his first encounter, he was living quite Worsley. He neither had a driver’s license nor a credit card. Despite all these things, she believes in him and thinks she will have a great future. This created one of the very strong foundations of their relationship.
“She was like, ‘I know you’re a really good actor,’ and I was like, ‘You haven’t seen me act yet.’ And she was like, ‘I just know it, I can tell,’” he recalled in the 2013 interview.
Their relationship went smoothly and they had the best time. Mark knew she was the one for her and didn’t want to waste time. That’s why the couple got married in 2000. After their two years of dating, they decided to get married. After a year of marriage, the actor from 13 Going on 30 received a brain tumor diagnosis that necessitated surgery. Coigney was expecting their first kid at the time.
“When these things happen, you sort of remember your religion a little bit,” Ruffalo opened up about his health scare to the Acoustic Neuroma Association in 2013. “I was praying and bargaining with God … I said, ‘Please, don’t take my face and don’t take my life because without my face I can’t support my family, and [without] my life, I definitely can’t support my family.’”
He revealed in an interview about his tumor and said, “I woke up one morning with the knowledge that I had a brain tumor. It wasn’t so much that I dreamt I had a brain tumor; it was like someone just poured the knowledge into my head. It wasn’t like an image; it was just like knowing. It was so weird, which is why I paid attention.”
Thankfully, the surgery went smoothly and it didn’t leave any ill effects on him. He was fine and so was his family. Within a year, he was having two daughters, Bella and Odette, daughters of Ruffalo and Coigney, who were added to the family in 2005 and 2007, respectively.
In an interview with US Weekly, he revealed by saying.
“They’re like, ‘You’re not that cool,’” the Spotlight actor said in 2015 “‘They’re like, ‘Big whoop, dad. I want to see you angry.’ That’s what they say to me. ‘I’m going to get you angry.’”

Two decades after they wed, the She-Hulk star penned a touching tribute to his wife and mother of his three children. “To My Hero. Always holding it all together,” Ruffalo wrote via Instagram in May 2020. “A fierce advocate for her kids, always on point no matter how tough it gets. Happy Mother’s Day, Sunny. It isn’t easy being a Mom and one day a year isn’t close to enough to celebrate how much work it is and how grateful we should be. We love you, Sunny Mom. Thank you for all you do. Happy Mother’s Day.”
Years back when the actor almost won a golden globe award he said, “[They] let me go off and bring these crazy people home and they have to live with [them] all these years,” Ruffalo gushed. “Thank you, guys.”
Mark Ruffalo spoke in an interview about his childhood and revealed by saying, I was an introverted kid; I liked my time alone. And the rest of my family is pretty extroverted, so I felt like a bit of an oddball. They’re very gregarious and charming and charismatic people. I always felt like I was struggling as a young person. I think everyone was very surprised to hear that I wanted to be an actor.
When asked about his relationship, and how he maintained such a healthy relationship for so many years, he simply said, “My personal belief is that you carry your water in a relationship. If you see a girl and you think she’s hot, that’s a very human reaction, but you don’t go and tell your spouse that, you know? So in one way, it’s how you behave.”
There is no wonder that Mark is a great actor. But what most people don’t know is that he loves kids and loved them more on the set. In an interview, he revealed, “I love acting with kids, ’cause they’re great acting partners. They’re present. Even when they’re acting, they’re still available and you can crack them up or something weird will happen and they’ll go with it.”

His character, Hulk has always been a fan favorite. In an interview, he revealed, “It seems like they conflate Bruce and the Hulk. It’s usually, ‘Hulk!’ as I’m walking across the street. But sometimes it’s ‘Banner!’ If you go on my Twitter feed, you’ll see it’s mostly Hulk. I think it was pretty spectacular what we were able to accomplish with CGI with ‘The Hulk,’ and I can’t take full credit for that.”

Within a year of marriage, they disclosed their pregnancy. The couple welcomed their first child, Keen, into the world.
