Everything About Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

The Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is the sequel to “Knives Out” movie. When it was released in 2019, Rian Johnson‘s “Knives Out” was everything that box office successes weren’t meant to be. The film features a stellar group of character actors with a script they could really get their teeth into in a unique, mid-budget crime story. The end result is a genuinely enjoyable film with enough amusing plot twists and turns and an as relevant as ever “Eat the Rich” message. In the end, Johnson produced a greater whodunit in the vein of Agatha Christie than the current Kenneth Branagh adaptations.

(snatching the franchise away from its original home at Lionsgate). Since then, the streamer has verified that the first of those sequels would, mercifully, be called something other than “Knives Out 2.”

What is the Plot of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery?

The video confirms that Benoit Blanc, the private investigator who solves mysteries, will return to the case “this Christmas season,” which is consistent with earlier rumors that “Glass Onion” will be released before the end of the year (much like “Knives Out” debuted in late November in 2019). Additionally, it has been said that Netflix wants the movie to tour the festival circuit before it is most likely only shown in a few cinemas before streaming. Therefore, it appears you might have a chance of seeing Mr. Blanc back on the big screen again.

Benoit Blanc will travel to Greece to “peel back the layers of a mystery involving a new cast of suspects” in “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” according to the description provided by Netflix along with the announcement video. (Get it? Because onions have layers. Yes, I am aware that you have seen “Shrek,” too. However, to avoid getting ahead of ourselves, it’s probably wise to avoid interpreting the movie’s title and what it might mean for Mr. Blanc’s next case too thoroughly.

In fact, “Glass Onion” subtly borrows its name from the Beatles song of the same name from 1968, which was included in the group’s renowned “White Album.” The Beatles’ followers, many of whom John Lennon believed were reading too much into their frequently meaningless lyrics, where the target audience for the song that he intended to confuse. The plot of “Knives Out” does, however, at one-time feature knives, so who knows? Perhaps Rian Johnson is performing four-dimensional chess out here, and onions will play a significant role in the movie’s plot.

As far as we are aware, Daniel Craig is the only “Knives Out” actor returning for “Glass Onion” (barring a surprise Ana de Armas cameo). Although I’m still clinging to the hope that Craig will wear a whole foreign dialect for the sequel that nobody ever comments on, it’s unlikely that he will still have his utterly convincing Southern accent when he does.
