Changes caused because of the COVID-19 outbreak are becoming a non-surprising fact now. Many live events canceled and others converted to online events. In this chain of companies and developers, one more big one added. The new entry who canceled an event is Epic. The company confirmed the cancelation of its 2020 Fortnite World Cup. Besides, all the other events remaining Fortnite events will take place online.

A live in-person tourney was already not practical since the virus outbreak. But an internet-based tourney also became not possible. It is because of the limitations of cross-region online competition. The company is now hopeful about a Fortnite World Cup in 2021. Or they may conduct FNCS and Cash Cups. Beyond that, third-party events are welcome if they are internet-only.

An in-person event will never become an expected success even if all the lockdowns lifted. After all the frustrating period of the pandemic, most of the people may not be able to make up to a live event. Besides, truly global competition is not at all possible because of the issues like lag and time zones. The Fortnite World Cup said to be the most important event from the company.

After all, the cancellation of the Fortnite World Cup will create a barren land in its world of competitions. The company added in its twitter account that all the physical events will be held online. The World Cup for this year is not possible because of the limitations of cross-region competition.
