Dua Lipa, the cover star of ELLE’s 2024 Music Issue, attended the Time100 Gala on Thursday while wearing a couture Chanel gown. The translucent dress was embellished with crystals and featured a plunging neckline and long sleeves.
A chic white broach rested in the center of the iconic black Chanel bow that adorned the bodice. Additionally, her belly button had a cutout that exposed her piercing.
Later, Lipa shared on her Instagram Story the source of the dress’s inspiration. She showed a black-and-white image of Jane Birkin wearing an identical outfit at the Artists Union’s Gala in Paris on April 25, 1969, exactly 55 years earlier.
She added, “My inspo for last nights dress ❤️,” over the picture.
Lipa was acknowledged as one of Time’s global most important individuals. She gave a performance at the prestigious event in addition to attending it. She wore only delicate silver rings and a slender drop necklace with matching earrings as her sole accessories for the occasion. Her red hair flowed in soft waves down her shoulders.
Lipa posed on the red carpet beside Fantasia Barrino, another honoree and one of ELLE’s 2023 Women in Hollywood. Barrino wore an open-back, long-sleeved, gloves dress totally covered in black sequins. She wore a head scarf that matched the ensemble.
In the interview that Lipa did for ELLE’s Music Issue, she discussed Radical Optimism, her new album that will be released on May 3.
She said, “The record is more mature overall.” “I can honestly say that I’ve changed since writing my first record. I’ve changed and grown so much that I just take things one day at a time and don’t consider anything negative or a setback. That requires a great deal of self-discovery and growth in order to see my value in all spheres of life—business, friendship, and love.”
