Dua Lipa may have performed an impossible vanishing act with “Houdini,” but she has returned with another hit single.
The pop singer declared the March 25 release of her forthcoming single, “Training Season.” Lipa lip syncs with a brief clip of the new song in a TikTok video, during which she declares that she is sick and tired of mediocre males. She sings over a pounding rhythm, “I need someone to hold me closer, deeper than I’ve ever known/whose love feels like a rodeo, knows exactly how to take control.”
Additionally, the performer revealed in a statement that the composition was motivated by a sequence of subpar dates. She wrote, “The last one was the final straw.” “When I arrived at the studio the following morning, Caroline Ailin and Tobias Jesso Jr. inquired about the progress.
I resolutely responded, ‘The training season has concluded!'” As is customary during “day after” debriefings with friends, the following day was filled with laughter and the project gradually came together.”
Lipa further elaborated that the song’s relevance extends beyond her romantic life. “While it is undeniably about that feeling you get when you are done telling people—men in this case—the proper way to date—it is also about the conclusion of my training season and my personal development with each passing experience,” she wrote.
“Never before have I felt more assured, lucid, or empowered. Although it may seem as though the training season never truly concludes for any individual, one begins to appreciate the value of discovering a companion to share it with.
