Both as a nominee and a presenter, this Barbie is new to the Golden Globes. Dua Lipa made her way to the Beverly Hilton Hotel tonight to commemorate both of those achievements, which were made possible by Barbie’s hit song “Dance the Night” from last summer.

Lipa and her team, which included her favorite producer Mark Ronson, received a nomination for the song in the category of Best Original Song. Adele Has Been Called the “British Queen” by Dua Lipa

In this category, she will compete against Barbie’s “I’m Just Ken” and “What Was I Made For?” as well as Bruce Springsteen’s “Addicted to Romance” from She Came To Me, Lenny Kravitz’s “Road to Freedom” from Rustin, and, perhaps most unexpectedly, Jack Black’s “Peaches” from The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Lipa has never been on an awards season red carpet before, but this is her first trip to the Golden Globes. She wore a spectacular Schiaparelli design for the historic event. Lipa wore a custom-made black velvet bustier dress with an embroidered gold and diamond bone motif that added a hint of Schiaparelli’s trademark surrealism.

According to insider sources close to the actress, the dress also had distinctive “umbrella” volume at the hem. Her 1962 Tiffany & Co. archival gems and Jimmy Choo shoes completed the ensemble.

Three songs from the same movie are nominated for Best Original Song for the second time in Globes history, according to Billboard. The songs “A Whole New World,” “Friend Like Me,” and “Prince Ali” from Aladdin were nominated back in 1992. Finally, “A Whole New World” won the award. Following the release of this year’s nominees, Lipa toasted the occasion on Instagram with a post full of exclamation points, which included a still from the movie in which she played a pink-haired mermaid. It also featured an appearance by her co-star John Cena and a behind-the-scenes peek at the film’s production.

She added, “Wow, waking up as a Golden Globe nomineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeOO!” next to the pictures. “Barbie is really appreciative! I’m thrilled to be able to spend this time with my songwriting partners on “Dance The Night,” @carolineailin @iammarkronson @wyattish. Greta, Noah, Margot, and Ryan deserve so much recognition for their nominations! Barbie, let’s go!”

A Golden Globe nomination is merely the most recent accolade that Lipa can add to her impressive portfolio. This year’s Academy Awards also included “Dance the Night” on its shortlist, which moved Lipa one step closer to becoming an EGOT.

She’s already taken home three Grammy Awards, and she has two more in the works (though Billie Eilish, another Barbie collaborator, is a fierce competitor). Before long, she’ll be hanging out with the likes of Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, and Viola Davis.
