The podcast host and her now-fiancé announced their engagement on Sept. 2
Pili Tanuvasa and Drew Afualo are engaged!
On Monday, Sept. 2, the 28-year-old host of the Comments Section podcast revealed a significant life achievement on TikTok and Instagram. The news was also shared on social media by her longterm girlfriend, a fitness and lifestyle instructor, who made sure to highlight the engagement ring in all of their images.
“Ima marry tf out of you big dawg, @ptanuvasa 🧡,” the author of Loud: Accept Nothing Less Than the Life You Deserve, captioned her Instagram carousel. “I cried so hard & for an hour straight yall im so deeply in love & happy it’s actually insane BYE) #SPEECHLESSSTAGRAM.”
The couple was embracing with their eyes closed in the first two pictures that Afualo shared on social media, as she proudly displayed her engagement ring and a bunch of roses. She stood behind Tanuvasa, kneeling on a bed covered with crimson rose petals.
In one of the set’s solo photos, Afualo held the bouquet and placed her palm in front of her forehead to display a cushion-cut diamond ring.
She included a picture of the ring with the romantically adorned bed in the background, with a heart-shaped arrangement of rose petals.
Afualo, who became well-known for her candid remarks about misogyny on the internet and her signature laugh, revealed further information about her relationship in response to a comment on her TikTok video on September 2 that read, “7 years and no ring????” “Girl, stand up???????”
“Get into it, mama,” she said, laughing and flashing her ring at the camera. “Who needs to stand up?”
“Also, I’ve been saying this for f—— years. But there is no f—— timeline on dating,” she added. “My man knew he was gonna marry me within the first month of dating me. But neither of us wanted to get married until we were ready.”
Afualo continued: “But even past that. Thinking that a ring is gonna, one, make a man commit to you and two, make a relationship worth having is not only ignorant but misogynistic.”
She asked the commenter: “So, again I ask, which one of us needs to stand the f— up?”
Afualo revealed that on her 2023 birthday, Tanuvasa gave her a ring, stating it would be for her “wedding stack.”
She went on to say that while he chose the diamond and paid for it, she did not.
Tanuvasa wrote: “From saying no to going to prom w/ me 13 years ago to now, jokes on you love lmaooooo ❤️” in his Instagram post announcing the engagement.
“U GOT MY ASS FR!!!!! I love you more than anything in this world, my person always 😭🧡,” Afualo replied to her fiancé in the comments.
