Who Exactly Is Jakub Jankto?

Jakub Jankto is a professional footballer from the Czech Republic. He was born on January 19, 1996, and plays the midfield position for both the Czech First League club Sparta Prague and the Czech Republic national team. Jankto is currently on loan from the La Liga club Getafe.

Club Career of Jakub Jankto

In 2014, Jankto moved to Udinese from Slavia Prague after reportedly agreeing to a transfer price of 700,000.

In 2015, he moved to Serie B club Ascoli on loan, despite the fact that he had not yet made his debut for the squad in the league.

On September 15, 2015, he made his debut in a league game for Ascoli, which was a home win in Serie B against Virtus Entella. Ascoli won the game 1-0.

On July 6, 2018, Sampdoria made the announcement that Jankto has signed an agreement to join the club on an initial loan basis with the option to make the transfer permanent for a fee of €15 million. Jankto made his debut with Sampdoria on August 12, 2018, and scored the game-winning goal in the Coppa Italia match against Viterbese. Sampdoria later made the transfer permanent.

On the 20th of August 2021, Jankto signed a contract with the La Liga team Getafe CF. The deal was for two years. After spending the previous year playing for Sparta Prague on loan for the duration of the following year, he went back to his native country on August 10 of the following year.

Czech Football Player Jakub Jankto Comes Out As Gay

Jakub Jankto, a professional soccer player for the Czech Republic, came out as gay and said he wanted to live his life “fearlessly.”

In a video posted to social media on Monday, the Sparta Prague midfielder stated that he no longer wanted to “hide” himself and that he wanted to live his life “in freedom.”

He stated,

“Like everybody else, I have my strengths, I have my weaknesses, I have my family, I have my friends.

“Like everybody else, I also want to live my life in freedom. Without fears. Without prejudice. Without violence. But with love. I’m homos*xual and I no longer want to hide myself.”

Following Jankto’s announcement, Sparta Prague stated: “Jakub spoke candidly about his s*xual orientation with the club a while ago. Everything else is personal to him. None more to say. Stop asking questions. We are behind you. Jacob, live your life. Nothing else is important.

Josh Cavallo came out as homos*xual in October 2021, making him the first current professional football player since Justin Fashanu to officially admit his s*xual orientation in 1990.

Jake Daniels, a forward for Blackpool, came out publicly as gay in May 2022, making him the first male footballer in the UK to do so since Fashanu. The Scottish footballer Zander Murray also came out as homos*xual last year, making him the first player in Scotland’s men’s professional leagues since Hearts star Fashanu in 1994 to be open about his s*xual orientation.

Former American men’s national team midfielder Robbie Rogers came out as homos*xual and announced his retirement from the game in the same blog post in 2013.

Neymar Jr. praised Jankto’s choice to come out as gay, saying: “It’s a significant day. Everybody has the right to freedom, thus prejudices like homophobia, racism, and other forms of discrimination should be less significant. However, everyone should be allowed to do as they like. Nobody can be forbidden from being who they want to be. You must be liberated.

27-year-old Jankto has 45 caps for the Czech Republic and participated in all five of his team’s games as they advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2021 European Championship.

He spent time with Sampdoria and Udinese before joining Sparta Prague on loan from LaLiga team Getafe this season. He previously made 155 appearances in Serie A.
