After the recent reveal of the first look of the movie fans is curious to know about Crater release date. The upcoming movie Crater captures a group of teenage friends going on one last adventure before one of them is permanently relocated to a distant planet. Kyle Patrick Alvarez, who is the director of the heartwarming story of Crater, has also worked on three episodes of Netflix’s drama series, 13 Reasons Why.

Crater, a new film from Disney+ Hotstar, will be released exclusively on their platform on May 12, 2023. This announcement was made via the OTT platform’s social media accounts, where they posted, “Check out the first look at Crater, a new #DisneyPlus Original movie streaming May 12 on #DisneyPlusHotstar.”

Caleb Channing is portrayed by Isaiah Russell-Bailey, Addison is played by Mckenna Grace, and Dylan is played by Billy Barratt. Orson Hong portrays Borney, Thomas Boyce portrays Marcus, and Scott Mescudi plays Caleb’s father.

Plot Of Crater Movie

The plot of Crater revolves around a young boy residing in a colony on the moon. The film is directed by Kyle Patrick Alvarez, known for his work on Homecoming, and written by John Griffin and Rpin Suwannath. Crater is a science fiction adventure film set to be released in the future with a coming-of-age theme.

But before he leaves, he and three of his closest friends, Dylan (Billy Barratt), Borney (Orson Hong), and Marcus (Thomas Boyce), as well as a newcomer from Earth, Addison (Mckenna Grace), take control of a rover for one last adventure. They investigate a mysterious crater in order to fulfill his father’s final wish.

Mckenna Grace (  who also voiced Daphne in Scoob)has been cast in the role of Addison, who arrives on the moon from Earth, but it is unclear how her story will intersect with Caleb’s. The circumstances surrounding her character’s arrival on the lunar base have yet to be revealed.

BTS Of Making Of Crater: From Black List To Disney+ Exclusive

The Black List, an annual compilation of the best-unproduced screenplays, included John Griffin’s script for Crater in 2015.  Rpin Suwannath, a visual effects supervisor, pitched the script to 20th Century Fox on November 8, 2017. However, development on the project was stopped after Disney acquired 21st Century Fox. Shawn Levy was originally set to direct the film, but on January 12, 2021, he was replaced by Kyle Patrick Alvarez.

The project is produced by Levy and Dan Levine of 21 Laps Entertainment. After  Disney’s acquisition of Fox, the film was originally scheduled for a theatrical release but was shifted to Disney+ for an exclusive streaming premiere. The film’s budget is estimated to be $53.4 million.

Crater movie Release Date

Mckenna Grace, Isaiah Russell-Bailey, Billy Barratt, Orson Hong, and Thomas Boyce were all cast in March 2021, with Scott Mescud casted in May. Crater began filming on June 21, 2021, at Celtic Studios in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and ended on August 20, 2021, with additional filming in Los Angeles. The first look for the film was released on March 29, 2023.

The talented cast of young actors has been praised for their outstanding performances in the trailers and teasers that have been released thus far.
