Coronavirus In UK: Three Weeks Lockdown
Coronavirus In UK has gone down to the level of the government giving a three weeks lockdown.
The global pandemic Coronavirus is increasing its velocity as the number of both infections and deaths keep on rising. Italy is the hardest-hit country with almost 56,000 confirmed cases and 5,800 deaths. There has been a shift in the pandemic which first originated in the Wuhan district of China and now Italy surpassing China.
It seems strange but China which was badly hit by the virus now is the safest place on earth. The country is being able to see some positive results with the virus under control. People sincerely followed all the government orders with stricter measures being implemented by the latter to contain the disease.
UK Fights Coronavirus (Coronavirus In UK)
Prime Minister, Boris Johnson addressed the nation this Monday and notified of a strict Coronavirus lockdown. Banning any kind of social gatherings, he told the British public, “You must stay at home.”
Johnson ratcheted up the nation’s task force in order to ensure that total lockdown is maintained. In his speech he made it very clear to the public that they will only be allowed to buy ration, medical supplies or other food. Travelling has also been banned unless it’s an emergency. Parks, malls, schools, libraries and any place of the public gathering shall remain closed until further notice. The PM made his speech from his residence in Downing Street.

After days of being accused of sending mixed messages about what the public should do, Johnson significantly escalated his language as he urged people to comply with the more stringent measures.
“You should not be meeting friends. If your friends ask you to meet, you should say no. You should not be meeting family members who do not live in your home. You should not be going shopping except for essentials like food and medicine – and you should do this as little as you can,” he said.
He further issued a warning in his speech that if anyone was found violating the rules, then strict action will be taken against that person.
Johnson Reluctant For A Lockdown? (Coronavirus In UK)
Johnson was not supportive of enforcing the draconian measures in England as seen elsewhere. But coming under pressure not just from his own cabinet and Tories but also from the Labour party he had to implement these measures.
In his speech, he mentioned that in this fight everyone is directly enlisted. And that it is high time to join hands and contain the spread of this disease. He even encouraged the public by saying that even in the past the people rose to any challenge. Therefore, people this time will get through even stronger.
The UK is currently under three weeks of complete lockdown to help contain the spread of the virus. The total deaths in the UK rose to 335 on Monday-a six-fold increase from last week.
