Singer Christina Aguilera has a fortune of $160 million, making her the richest woman in the United States. She is widely renowned for her powerful voice and edgy personal style, which she has won five Grammy Awards for. Acting and television have also been part of her career, most recently as a judge on the “The Voice” music competition show.
Early Life and Career Beginnings
Christina Mara Aguilera was born on December 18, 1980, in Staten Island, New York City, to parents who were also musicians. Her father is of Ecuadorian descent, and her mother is descended from German, Irish, Welsh, and Dutch families. She travelled around a lot during her childhood because of her father’s job as a soldier in the United States Army. She eventually settled in Rochester, Pennsylvania, after her parents divorced when she was six years old, which is where she met her future husband.
Aguilera auditioned for “The Mickey Mouse Club” in 1991, despite the fact that she did not match the minimum age criteria. Later, she joined the cast, where she appeared with other now-famous actors and actresses including Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling, and Britney Spears, among others, until the show was cancelled in 1994.
In 1998, after sending in a cover version of Whitney Houston’s “Run to You,” Aguilera was chosen by Disney to sing “Reflection,” which serves as the theme song for the animated picture “Mulan.” When it was released in June 1998, the single “Reflection” peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary album chart.
Following the success of “Reflection,” Aguilera obtained a recording contract with RCA Records. Because she was part of a teen pop craze at the time, her record label hastened the creation of her album in order to keep up with her fellow popstar Britney Spears. When her single “Genie in a Bottle,” which was published in June 1999, reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, Aguilera became a household name. Her self-titled debut album was released in August 1999 and peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States. It has been certified platinum eight times by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and has sold more than 17 million copies worldwide as of the end of 2010.
Aguilera was named Best New Artist at the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards, which took place in February 2000. Later, in September and October of 2000, she recorded two more studio albums, the Spanish-language “Mi Reflejo” and the festive album “My Kind of Christmas,” which were both published in the same year. From mid-2000 to early 2001, she embarked on her first concert tour, “Christina Aguilera in Concert,” which took her to cities across North and South America, Europe, South and Central America, and Japan.
Aguilera fired her manager, Steve Kurtz, after becoming dissatisfied with the lack of control she had over her image and songs. She then began working with Irving Azoff. Following the acquisition of greater artistic control over her career, her first effort was “Lady Marmalade,” a duet with Pink, Mya, and Lil Kim that was released in 2001. The song went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals at the 44th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
“Stripped” is Aguilera’s fourth studio album, on which she worked as executive producer and co-writer for the majority of the tracks (2002). While promoting “Stripped,” Aguilera debuted her “Xtina” alter ego, which had dyed black hair, tattoos, and multiple piercings, among other edgier characteristics. “Back to Basics” (2006) saw Aguilera’s return to blonde hair, as she adopted a throwback appearance inspired by Classic Hollywood style icons such as Marilyn Monroe and dubbed her new character “Baby Jane.” She released her fifth studio album the following year. Her “Back to Basics Tour,” which took place between November 2006 and October 2008, brought in $48.1 million.
Despite mixed reviews for her albums “Bionic” (2010) and “Lotus” (2012), she garnered overwhelmingly good reviews for her 2018 album “Liberation,” which opened at number six on the Billboard 200 list in the United States of America. Aguilera embarked on two promotional tours in support of “Liberation”: the Liberation Tour in the United States (September – November 2018) and the X Tour in Europe (October – November 2018). (July to December 2019). The Xperience, a 25-date performance residency at the Zappos Theater in Las Vegas that will run from May 2019 to March 2020, was also headlined by her.
