Marvel Studios has already announced that they’re making Captain Marvel 2. The first film introduced us to Carol Danvers and served to tell her origin story. We also found out how where she’d been all this time.
Captain Marvel’s Comic-Book Accurate Costume
One of the things that fans love about the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the respect that these films have for the source material. The storylines may not be exactly what they were in the comic books, but the look of the characters is always spot on.
You can easily recognize each character with just one look. At the same time, a lot of these costumes do still have a flair of originality. The same holds true for Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel look.
The costume she donned in her solo outing, as well as in Avengers: Endgame looks like it was ripped straight out of a comic book. In particular, it’s very similar to her costume design from Kelly Sue Deconnick’s iconic run of the character.
Concept Artist Shares Unused Captain Marvel Costume Design
However, we now have some unused concept art to take a look at. Concept artist Constantine Sekeris, who worked on the Marvel film, shared a starkly different look for Larson’s take on Danvers on his Instagram page.
“Here is another captain Marvel early exploration of her kree costume a bit alien with a red pallette and different hair style…..did this design at Marvel studios in the Visual Development team lead by Andy Park…..was on this kool project for a short time to help explore different options …..was allot of fun and really enjoyed the film…..I was lucky enough to work with my friends and amazing talented artists and designers,” reads the post’s caption.

Cool, But Unrecognizable (Captain Marvel 2)
It’s unlike any previous iteration of Captain Marvel, but it does look really cool. That said, the reason that Marvel didn’t choose this look is because it’s not instantly recognizable as Captain Marvel.
Captain Marvel originally came out on March 8, 2019. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck wrote and directed the film. It starred Brie Larson, Jude Law, Lashanna Lynch, Anette Benning and many others. The movie also served as a bridge between Avenger: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. One of the post-credits scenes even showed her meeting the Avengers for the first time.
Captain Marvel 2 currently has a release date of July 29, 2022.
