Players have been enjoying themselves with Call Of Duty – Warzone since it first dropped on March 10, 2020. This free-to-play battle royale game joins the likes of Apex Legends, Fortnite and PUBG as part of the ever-increasing titles in this genre. Call Of Duty – Modern Warfare players had expected that it would be coming at some point soon, thanks to numerous leaks and hints, but it’s finally out now.
The Structure Of Battle Royale Games
The way all battle royale games work is the same across the board. Players parachute down onto a massive map with little to no equipment with them. They then explore the map in search of equipment that allows them to survive attacks from other players on the map who are trying to do the same thing.
All the while, the play area becomes smaller and smaller, forcing all surviving players to converge into a specific area of the map. Getting caught outside of the play area results in the player slowly losing their health. If they can’t make their way into the play area before that, they die.
How Warzone Adopts This Structure
In Call Of Duty – Warzone, it’s a massive cloud of poisonous gas that’s closing in on the players from all sides, thus reducing the play area. Also, as of right now, Warzone is a squads-only battle royale game. This teamwork aspect of the game has lead to a certain exploit that allows players to win their matches quite easily.
Squad-based multiplayer games usually let one of your teammates find and revive you if you die. This is where the exploit comes in. Reddit user u/MightyKonsti discovered this bug and posted the video on the r/CODWarzone subreddit.
The Exploit
Here’s how this exploit works. Two players on the same squad can simply choose to hang out in poisonous cloud outside the play area. When one of them dies, the other can revive them and vice versa.
Ideally, they’d do this far outside the play area. This would mean that the rest of the players can’t get close enough to kill them. This makes it extremely easy to win matches. Although, admittedly, this method of winning amounts to cheating. Infinity Ward for their part have taken note of this exploit and patched it. Warzone players are certain to feel significantly less frustration now.
Call Of Duty – Warzone is free-to-play on PS4, Xbox One and PC. PS4 users do not require PS Plus memberships to play it.
