Lively recreated Spears’ iconic 2002 vintage Versace dress, which was adorned with sequin flowers and butterflies.
Blake Lively was taken aback when she realized that she had imitated the appearance of a music superstar during the most recent stop on the It Ends with Us press tour.
Lively, 36, donned a vintage Versace gown that the “Gimme More” vocalist wore in 2002 for the film’s red carpet premiere in New York City on Tuesday, Aug. 6. It was a tribute to Spears.
“It is Britney’s actual dress,” Lively exclusively tells. “It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met. But it’s on me. I feel so lucky!”
The Versace dress is entirely consistent with the floral-themed attire she has been wearing throughout the summer, which is associated with her character Lily Bloom and her floral shop in the film. Blake Lively wore nude floral dresses for the promotion of ‘It Ends with Us.’
It features a few embellished blossoms strung across her midsection. The sequined dress is multicolored and features a one-shoulder strapless neckline and a unique opening on the bodice.
Lively complemented her dress with a pair of suspended drop earrings in the same colors and rings from Lorraine Schwartz’s fine jewelry collection, which replicated the dress’s vibrant pink and pastel blue hues. She opted for iridescent stiletto heels and maintained a minimalistic shoe style.
Her glitz also complemented the hues of the outfit. Lively’s matte lipstick looked great with a subtle pink eyeshadow look. Her beautiful blonde hair flowed freely down her back where she had left it. Blake Lively maintains her Botanical style.
On Tuesday, Lively also posted a heartfelt tribute to the famous singer on her Instagram Stories, saying, “Todays mood.” She added, “The ultimate queen who inspired us all to shine, write, and share our stories,” alongside a picture of Spears in the Versace outfit from 2002.
“Britney, us millennials all have a story of a moment, or of years that you made us want to shine and inspire awe, with strength, and joy and immensely hard work,” she added. “Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories.”
Ryan Reynolds, who was also dressed in an olive green suit with a white floral boutonniere, accompanied Lively on the red carpet. The boutonniere was a nod to Lively’s character. Hugh Jackman, who starred in Reynolds’ Deadpool and Wolverine, was also present.
Lively has been wearing florals in any form she can locate since the promotional campaign for the film, which is based on the book of the same name by Colleen Hoover, commenced in June. She expressed her enthusiasm for method dressing during the promotion of her Blake Brown haircare line, stating that it enables her to fully immerse herself in a character.
“I’m so excited method dressing is such a thing now because years ago when I did A Simple Favor, people were like, ‘Why are you dressing like your character? Why are you in suits?’” Lively said, referencing her 2018 promo tour for the Paul Feig movie for which she just filmed an upcoming sequel. “
“And I was like, because we have no marketing money to promote this movie. It’s a small movie and the only thing people really pay attention to at these junket interviews is the photos of fashion so if I just wear men’s suits, people are going to go, ‘Why is she just wearing suits?’ And then they’re going to go, ‘Oh, because she’s in a movie and she’s wearing men’s suits.’ It’s a marketing hack to try to get people to pay attention to our movie. And it worked.”
As the release of It Ends with Us approaches, Lively is certain to have additional floral styles in mind. Despite the fact that she has donned a variety of outfits, including floral shorts, embroidered chaps, flower-print denim, and minidresses, there is likely a flower-adorned item in her wardrobe that she can don before the film is released in theaters on August 9.
