The demons in human form run through lightning and fog. Even if arrows and spears do not actually damage them, Greek troops shoot arrows and hurl spears at them.

As payment, an angry a-hole shopkeeper hurls two coins at the humble mendicant’s bare feet. The lowly mendicant is a kind guy; he assists an elderly gentleman who has fallen down intoxicated and injured his leg, then returns him to his mendicant hovels, where he lives with his mother, who is not a lowly mendicant but rather a lowly whore.
These classifications are based on how the locals see them. The peasants, for example, are not sophisticated enough to know the word “mendicant,” but they are cruel enough to use the phrase “whore” often.
Anyway, Heron (Derek Phillips) is the poor mendicant, and his mother is Electra (Mamie Gummer), and his father is… We might probably guess, but we will wait till Heron discovers a lady lying in a nearby pool with her guts outside her body and is assaulted by the demon, then assists the SHE-WARRIOR in capturing the demon.
The old man tells Heron and Electra a legend about old gods fighting old giants, and how the gods defeated the giants, but mortals ate the flesh of an evil giant and turned into horrible demons. In the midst of it all, there was an impaling or two.
Meanwhile, Alexia (Jessica Henwick), the SHE-WARRIOR, is trying the demon in the village square on accusations of being a demon, and alas, its head is not long enough to be joined to its body. Six men arrive at Heron and Electra’s residence to assault her since she is a filthy whore, but Heron holds his own against them all, successfully repelling them.
Alexia approaches him and invites him to join their war against evil, but he refuses. Heron is persuaded to rethink by the elderly man, who then sends him off to gather some unique ore for a special weapon. The deity Ares then appears to greet the elderly guy, who is not really an old man at all — he is Zeus himself, and I am quite sure he once did the horizontal hi-there with Electra, resulting in Heron.

(All without any introductions or *exposition*, which is usually a bonus because it shows the writers are not assuming the audience is stupid.)
Meanwhile, the demons and giants appear to have been plucked from a dollar shop kaiju bin—perhaps they spent all their money on Zeus’ lightning bolt CGI and just had enough money left to clothe the evil guys in shades of grey with red accents.
