The Peacock Theater in Los Angeles was the location of the 2024 BET Awards awards ceremony, which took place on Sunday, June 30. Taraji P. Henson served as the host of the show for the third consecutive year. Drake was the recipient of the most nominations, a total of seven. While the live broadcast was taking place, Usher was presented with the lifetime achievement award.
In the beginning of the event, Megan Thee Stallion gave a performance that was full of energy and was supported by a large number of dancers. In a manner that was evocative of the cover of her most recent album, Megan, she emerged from a gigantic egg.
Baby Face, L.A. Reid, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis gave Usher the “Lifetime Achievement Award”. An all-star musical tribute included a mashup of his classics by Chlöe Bailey, Childish Gambino, KeKe Palmer, CoCo Jones, Tinashe, Latto, and others. The legend also won “Best Male R&B/Pop Artist.”
Will Smith’s new single, “You Can Make It,” featured Gospel legend Kirk Franklin and the Sunday Service Choir, marking his musical comeback.
