Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck after two years of marriage on Tuesday, multiple sources have confirmed.
The actor returned to Los Angeles shortly before Jennifer Lopez filed to dissolve her union with Ben Affleck, having dropped off Violet, Jennifer Garner’s daughter, at college.
On Tuesday, August 20, Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, as many sources told. April 26, 2024 was the date of separation that she mentioned.
Absent legal counsel, she alone submitted the paperwork. The couple’s traditional Georgian wedding anniversary fell on Tuesday as well (they were first married in Las Vegas on July 17, 2022).

Garner and Affleck boarded a vehicle and departed together after disembarking from the aircraft.
In the midst of his and Lopez’s separation, a source stated on Monday that Affleck has been “extremely busy with preparing Violet for her move-in.”
“It’s, of course, a huge deal for the whole family, and they’ve all been so excited the last few weeks,” the source added.
A “small birthday celebration at home” with his children was held days prior to his 52nd birthday. Lopez also attended the event, according to a source.
“It’s exactly what he wanted. He didn’t want to go out to celebrate. The kids had gifts for him, and it was cute,” says the source. “Jennifer [Lopez] stopped by to congratulate him.”
The source continued by saying, “The kids were with Ben for most of the day. He didn’t leave the house at all for his birthday.”.
In addition, Affleck and Garner, whose divorce was finalized in 2018, have two children together: Seraphina, who is 15 years old, and Samuel, who is 12 years old.
