Barack Obama’s net wealth and salary are as follows: Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States of America and a former Senator from the state of Illinois. Obama was elected to the Illinois Senate in 2008 and is the first African-American to be elected President of the United States of America.

As of the time of this writing, Barack Obama’s net worth is $70 million dollars. That is his joint net worth with his wife, Michelle Obama, at the time of writing. For the majority of their adult life, the Obamas were not wealthy. They first became millionaires about 2005, when Barack first came into the public eye as a result of book revenues earned while campaigning for president.

Barack Obama Early Life

Barack Hussein Obama II was born on August 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Hussein Obama and Michelle Obama. He is the first and only President of the United States to have been born outside of the contiguous 48 states.

His mother, Ann Dunham, was of English, German, Swiss, Scottish, Irish, and Welsh ancestry, and he was raised by her. Ann met Barack Obama Sr. in 1960 while he was enrolled in a Russian language course at the University of Hawaii Manio, where he had been awarded a scholarship. Barack Sr., a Kenyan, was married at the time of the assassination. Barack and Ann tied the knot in 1961. Six months after that, Barack Jr. was born.

The divorce between Barack Sr. and Ann occurred in 1964, at which point he returned to Kenya and married for the third time. President Barack Sr. only paid a visit to Barack Jr. after returning to Kenya. In 1971, when Barack Jr. was nine years old, he travelled to Hawaii to see his son. Tragically, Barack Obama Sr. died in a car accident over Christmas in 1982, just before his son was born. Barack Jr. was 21 years old at the time of the assassination.

Ann tied the knot with an Indonesian man named Lolo Soetoro in March 1965. When Lolo’s plea for a visa extension was denied, he was forced to return to Indonesia. In 1967, Ann and Barack Jr. joined him at the hospital.

His family returned back to Honolulu in 1971 to reside with his mother’s parents after spending the previous year in Indonesia. He attended secondary school in this city and graduated in 1979. Ann and Lolo remained married until their divorce in 1980. Unfortunately, she passed away in 1995 after a long battle with cancer.

Barack has a number of half siblings who are descended from both his mother and father.

When he graduated from high school in 1979, Barack relocated to Los Angeles to study at Occidental College, where he was awarded a full academic scholarship.

The next year, he enrolled in Columbia University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science, with a concentration in international relations. In 1983, he received his bachelor’s degree from Columbia University. He worked as a financial researcher for Business International Corporation for a year before moving on to work as a project organiser for a number of New York-based non-profit organisations for another year.

Barack went to Chicago in 1985 after being hired to work as a director for a non-profit organisation called the Developing Communities Project. He has lived there ever since. He was employed by the company from 1985 to 1988. The next year, he spent two months travelling across the world, including five weeks in Kenya, where he paid visits to family.

Barack began his studies at Harvard Law School in the fall of 1988. He served as the president of the Harvard Law Review during his time at Harvard. While in college, he returned to Chicago, where he maintained his community organising career throughout the summers. Following graduation, Obama went on to work as a civil rights attorney in the city of Chicago. From 1992 until 2004, he also served as an adjunct professor of constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School.

Barack Obama Personal Life

In the summer of 1989, Barack was employed as an associate at the Chicago law firm Sidley Austin. Michelle Robinson, an associate of Barack’s, was assigned to serve as his advisor for a three-month period beginning in June. In a short period of time, they began dating and were engaged in 1991. They tied the knot on October 3, 1992.

Their two daughters, Malia Ann (born in 1998) and Natasha “Sasha” (born in 2001), would eventually be born to them.

Barack Obama Net Worth and Book Royalty

For his job as a lecturer and state representative, Barack never received more than $30,000 in compensation between 1991 and 2004. Michelle Obama’s substantial salary as a lawyer, who worked mostly for the University of Chicago medical system, provided the majority of the Obama family’s income during this period.

When Barack was elected to the United States Senate in 2005, his income increased to $157,100. Michelle earned a total of $273,618 in the same year. In 2005, they made a total of $1.65 million in revenue. I’m curious where the extra $1.2 million came from.

The year 1995 marked the publication of Barack’s debut book, “Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance.” For the first 8 or 9 years after its publication, it did not garner much attention or popularity. Following his 2004 DNC keynote speech, the book gained enormous popularity, resulting in a huge royalties windfall for the Obama family, which was recorded as revenue in the family’s 2005 tax return.

The Obamas earned $916,00 in 2006, according to their tax returns. In October 2006, Barack Obama’s second book, “Audacity of Hope,” was published. The book was a huge success, selling millions of copies and boosting the Obama’s income to $4.2 million in 2007. Their wealth increased significantly in the following years as a result of Barack’s successful presidential campaign and election in 2008.

To this day, Barack Obama receives $3.75 for each hardback copy and $1.12 for each paperback copy of his book that is sold. In 2008, 2009, and 2010, royalties were strong, despite the economic downturn.

For the combined rights to their autobiographies, Barack and Michelle Obama got a $60 million advance in February 2017 from the Obama Foundation.
