Fans of the television show “Archer” will be treated to yet another excursion to the danger zone. According to Deadline, the animated espionage comedy “Archer,” developed by Adam Reed, has been officially renewed for a third season on FX Networks. With Sterling Archer as its protagonist, we get to know the world’s finest secret spy, who also happens to be extremely cynical and unprofessional, and possibly even an alcoholic.
Currently, Archer is employed by the International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS), which is directed by his short-tempered mother, Malory, from whom Archer most likely received his alcoholism and dependency. Archer and his unskilled band of espionage operatives and support personnel embark on espionage operations throughout the world, which, more often than not, go terribly wrong and end in humorous mishaps and blunders.
Since its debut in 2009, “Archer” has become a fan favourite among television viewers, and the series has rated highly on lists of the best cartoons of all time published by TV Guide and Entertainment Weekly, among other publications.
The fact that Reed decided to stop “Archer” after Season 10 was undoubtedly a surprise to viewers when they heard the news in 2016. (via TV Line). Fortunately, owing to a rise in viewership from Season 10 to 11, as reported by Variety, this did not turn out to be the case, and more sexual innuendos and one-liners may be expected in Season 13 of “Archer.”
Is There a Premiere Date for Archer Season 13?
Season 13 of “Archer” is expected to premiere in the not-too-distant future, although there is currently no confirmed release date for the season. According to the previously cited Deadline rumour, Season 13 will launch on FXX sometime in 2022 and will consist of an eight-episode season. Beyond that, the article doesn’t provide much information, but based on the show’s prior seasons, we may make an educated estimate as to when Season 13 of “Archer” will begin.
It appears that new seasons of “Archer” normally launch roughly a year after the previous season concludes, so with Season 12 having just concluded in October, we may expect that Season 13 will premiere sometime between September and November of 2022, depending on when Season 12 concluded. There have been several deviations to this release schedule, such as when Season 11’s premiere was delayed by more than a year as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak in the United States. With any hope, the pandemic will not have a significant impact on the production of “Archer” Season 13, and we will be able to see the animated espionage comedy on our screens sooner rather than later.
What Characters Will Likely Return in Archer Season 13?
It’s safe to assume that the majority of the group will return for Season 13 of “Archer,” just as they have done in some shape or another in each of the previous seasons. The cast will most likely feature Archer’s ex-girlfriend and fellow spy Lana (Aisha Taylor), the nerdy accountant turned spy Cyril (Chris Parnell), the crazy office assistant Cheryl (Judy Greer), and the openly homosexual agent Ray (Judy Greer), among others (Adam Reed). Also, there’s absolutely no reason to suppose that Lucky Yates, the voice actor who portrays the maniacal Dr Krieger, and Amber Nash, who portrays the immensely humorous Pam, won’t be back for Season 13.

Unfortunately, one character will not be returning in Season 13, and that character is Malory Archer, who has been voiced by the wonderful Jessica Walter since Season 1. After she passed away unexpectedly in March 2021, many were shocked, but happily, FX was able to incorporate her voice into Season 12 of the show. After an appropriate and poignant conclusion in the Season 12 finale, Walter’s character Malory is last seen retiring and enjoying on a beach with her husband Ron (played by Walter’s real-life spouse Ron Leibman), who is also seen hand in hand with her.

Additionally, in addition to the main cast, there will undoubtedly be several guest stars throughout the season, since “Archer” is noted for having some of the best guest voice actors on television.
What Could the Story of Archer Season 13 Be About?
It’s difficult to forecast what Season 13 of “Archer” will bring because the series as a whole has proven to be, well, unexpected. To get from being the world’s top-secret spy to being a drug smuggler, Archer first went into business for himself as a private investigator. Then, at one point, we get to experience three seasons’ worth of Archer’s comatic dreams, which take us from a 1920s Los Angeles crime scene to a spacecraft in space, among other places. Despite the fact that nothing is certain in the universe of “Archer,” we have a solid notion of what to expect in the upcoming season of the show.

Since Seasons 11 and 12 return “Archer” to the espionage comedy origins that initially drew viewers to the program in the first place, it’s probably safe to assume that the show’s out-of-this-world stories have come to an end on the show. The last time we saw Archer and the crew, they were fighting for espionage contracts with the world’s newest spy organisation, the International Intelligence Agency (IIA), in order to restore ISIS to its former glory. Afterwards, in the season’s last episode, it’s revealed that ISIS has been sold to IIA and that Malory has given the “leadership” torch to Archer.
Our best assumption is that Archer would attempt to recreate ISIS in some form under his leadership, as it’s difficult to envision Archer and his comrades gladly working for IIA under any circumstances. Of course, this will almost certainly result in a slew of new escapades for the crew, but viewers will have to wait until Season 13 of “Archer” premieres in 2022 to find out what happens.
Conclusion
After rescuing her son Sterling (voiced by H. Jon Benjamin) from kidnappers in the season finale, Malory makes her farewell appearance on the series. Malory will be missed. While they are enjoying themselves, their espionage agency is acquired by a competing organization, IAA, and Malory vanishes.
