Because of her leading role in The Queen’s Gambit, Anya Taylor-Joy has been catapulted to A+++ list levels of celebrity overnight, and she has done an admirable job of keeping her personal life private. We’ve reached the point where we all know she’s seeing someone (hint: that someone is Malcolm McRae), but she’s been coy about declaring their connection to the public. Anya previously spoke to The Guardian about her desire to remain anonymous, stating, “There’s a beauty in remaining anonymous, and there’s a reason why we’re actors…we’re playing other people, so the idea of someone being interested in me—I’m quite a private person—is a bit daunting, but I try not to think about it.”
The fact that Anya literally just walked the red carpet with Malcolm for the first time last month is probably because he has been at her side through many thrilling events, and he has, believe it or not, been there for her through a slew of them (including when she ARRIVED at the Venice Film Festival).
The good news is that, at this point in our minds, we’re essentially private investigators, so here’s all we know about Malcolm, including information on his relationship with Anya.

His on-screen appearances, on the other hand, have been rather few. Malcom’s most recent acting credit is in a short film titled How’dy!, which is set to be released in the year 2020. Nonetheless, this dude’s IMDb bio (written by a management team) contains a wealth of useful and occasionally amusing information about his professional life, such as the fact that he was discovered at the age of 12, won “Over All Young Actor” in 2006, is currently “testing for pilots,” and is also “investigating university options for the future.”
The fact that Malcolm is “a triple threat with his own brand of charm, enthusiasm, and humour” is also revealed in this bio, as is the fact that he “sings everything from pop to folk to rockabilly to rock and musical theatre.”

As Rain reported in 2020, he discussed the band with the latter and stated that his late father had an influence on his composition, notably on the song “Elaborate Attraction”:
“My dad was an investment banker. He passed away when I was 18, but that song revolves around and is based on some of his life. He studied classics at an Ivy League school and so the reference to Joseph Campbell, that’s what we took the video from. We wanted it to be an antihero’s journey. All 17 points of Campbell’s hero journey…we wanted to make them super-menial tasks with an incredibly small reward for each task. It symbolizes what the song is about which, is nature versus nurture.”
Malcolm relocated to Los Angeles in order to pursue a romance:

That’s what I’m referring to… Before she presented Saturday Night Live, Page Six revealed images of the two of them having sex in New York city. There is no official confirmation from Anya or Malcolm, however Elle magazine reported that “My partner’s just gotten back from work, and he’s shifting around all of his equipment” in an interview with Anya in April.
THEY DID IT IN 2022 ON THE RED CARPET
After months of anticipation, Anya and Malcolm finally made their debut on the red carpet together at the 2022 Vanity Fair Oscars After Party.
Soon after that they hit the red carpet again, this time in London to see Anya’s latest film, The Northman, and this time they even displayed some PDA on the carpet.

Anyone who knows Anya knows that she keeps her connection with Malcolm under wraps. However, Malcolm made it abundantly clear that they are officially together by posting a photo of her on Instagram. What was the caption? “I’m completely smitten.”
