It has been confirmed that the businessman proposed to Bellino on Tuesday, August 27, at the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, California, while celebrating their anniversary.
For her nine-month anniversary with John Janssen, Alexis Bellino received a very significant surprise: an engagement ring.
The engagement of the Real Housewives of Orange County duo can be confirmed by PEOPLE. Janssen, 61, proposed on Tuesday, Aug. 27, while on vacation at the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, California.
Bellino, 47, has been posting pictures from the vacation to her Instagram Stories, as her fans who follow her on social media are aware. She said, “My boo surprised me,” while showcasing their opulent suite and personal jacuzzi in a video. “This is unbelievable… I’m very happy, honey. It’s lovely.”
However, a post made on Wednesday, August 28, to her main page gave supporters the impression that there was more going on with the trip. That finger displayed a brand-new cushion-cut diamond ring, as seen in the adorable picture of Bellino and Janssen together.
“On Cloud 9 🎉❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️, celebrating 9 months of love and laughter, and looking forward to my forever with you,” Bellino captioned the picture. “Every moment together has been a gift. I am so in love with you and the beautiful life we’re building together. And the answer is 100000000% yes.”
“#9MonthsStrong #LoveOfMyLife,” she hashtagged the post, adding a verse from 1 Corinthians 13:13 in the Bible that read, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
“John & Alexis are happily engaged, and look forward to their long future together as husband and wife,” a representative for the couple said in confirming the engagement news.
The combination of Bellino and Janssen was first made public exclusively in the beginning of December 2023. The two got together a few weeks prior on Nov. 18 at the Orange County restaurant The Quiet Woman when they ran into each other’s pals.
“We tried to fight the feelings after week two, John and I knew that was it,” she explained on RHOC earlier this season.
They had both just ended long-term partnerships. Three years after he proposed in December 2020, Bellino and her ex-fiance Andy Bohn called it quits on their engagement in September 2023.
While this was going on, Janssen had already broken up with Bellino’s current costar Shannon Storms Beador twice: once in September 2023, shortly after her arrest for a suspected DUI and hit-and-run, and again in late 2022, after they had been together for three and a half years.
The common experience strengthened the friendship between Janssen and Bellino. Prior to being single, “the two have been supportive companions as they navigate newly single life,” a source told. “This common background paired with a mutual attraction has made it easy for Alexis and John to form a natural connection.”
Bellino and Janssen, who each have three children from previous relationships, have not hidden their feelings for one another since going public with their romance. They have shared glimpses into their dates, boat trips, vacations, romantic getaways, and blended family outings with their children.
For Christmas 2023, Janssen even gave her a promise ring. “Speech cannot. On Instagram, Bellino wrote as the caption for a picture of the band made of gold and diamonds. “I’m going to stop feeling bad. I’m not going to apologize. Love will write its own narrative. Johnny J., I adore you 🎄♥️.”
The pair made their red carpet debut as a couple in March at the DIRECTV Streaming with the Stars Oscars viewing party. They spent the entire evening holding hands at Spago in Beverly Hills, California, and putting their arms around each other while posing for pictures.
“I tell her she’s perfect all the time and she is perfect for me,” Janssen said of Bellino during an interview on the Reality with The King podcast published Aug. 1. “She is confident. She is and that’s a overused phrase, but she is absolutely as beautiful on the inside as on the outside and she brings out the best in me.”
“I’ve never ever felt truly loved until Alexis and I’ve never felt more loved,” he added, noting that Bellino has become his “true partner in life.”
Yet not everyone accepts their relationship.
Housewives fans have been harsh on the pair for nine months, driven by Bellino’s claims that Storms Beador has lied about Janssen. Bellino, who returned to Bravo after a 10-year hiatus, has spent season 18 defending Janssen, even if her emotional comments have often exacerbated online and alienated many of her former and current RHOC players.
Despite the difficulties, they have remained an unbreakable duo.
